CNN Academy Launches 2025 Global South Training Program for Emerging Storytellers

CNN Academy has officially opened applications for its 2025 edition of "Voices from the South: Storytelling for Impact", a groundbreaking media training program designed to empower the next generation of journalists and content creators from the Global South.

Targeting early-career storytellers from Africa, Latin America, Asia, and other developing regions, the program aims to build storytelling capacity through world-class mentorship, hands-on experience, and access to CNN’s international network of journalists and editors.

Participants selected for the program will:

  • Engage in immersive training modules led by CNN professionals
  • Gain insights into impactful, ethical storytelling across platforms
  • Be invited to attend the CNN Academy Simulation in Abu Dhabi in November 2025, a high-stakes editorial training event simulating real-world newsroom dynamics

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

  • Be based in a country within the Global South
  • Be a content creator, journalist, or communicator in the early stages of their career
  • Demonstrate a clear portfolio of work showing creativity and potential
  • Communicate fluently in English (written and spoken)
  • Be available to travel in November 2025
